New Lower Cost Shipping Option for Canadian ModCloth Shoppers

[ 0 ] February 23, 2012

My fellow throwback-style loving fashionistas, have I got some faaaabulous news for you. ModCloth is now offering a lower cost shipping option for Canadian shoppers!

Select the new USPS First-Class Mail International option to receive low-cost shipping on your product. How do you know how much the shipping will cost? Easy. Once you have an item in your shopping bag, click ‘Estimate Shipping’ at the bottom of the page to select your country and calculate your approximate postage cost.

For example, estimated shipping cost to Canada for the cute green dress pictured above is $3.45.

Delivery typically takes between 7-21 business days. Unfortunately, this option doesn’t provide tracking information, and it’s only available for orders under 4 lbs. For more information, check out the shipping information page on ModCloth’s website.

Top 5 Family Day Activities

[ 0 ] February 17, 2012

There are so many reasons to be thankful for Family Day 2012 (and we don’t just mean the three-day weekend part). A designated holiday to catch up with your family and enjoy their company – who wouldn’t love it? If you’re stuck for things to do, just read our list of the top 5 Family Day activity ideas:

1. Take a day trip to the U.S.

If you happen to live near the American border, why not take some time off to peruse our neighbouring nation? There’s no better time than a weekday to do some shopping and enjoy the relatively unhurried atmosphere. Make it a road trip to remember.

2. Get a dose of culture

You might think that everything shuts down on Family Day, but you’d be wrong. In fact, many museums, science centers, theatres and exhibits offer discounted Family Day fare or are completely free!

3. Visit one of Canada’s natural wonders

Are you lucky enough to live in close proximity to one of our country’s amazing wonders? So many people forget that we’re the home to a number of gorgeous sights such as the Bay of Fundy, Dinosaur Provincial Park and the Thousand Islands. Take in some Canadian beauty this Family Day.

4. Enjoy a guided tour of your city

Let someone else do the work for the day! Between suspension bridge walks, trolley hop-on hop-off tours and helicopter sight-seeing, there’s always an interesting way to see Canada from a new perspective. Be sure to use our Viator coupons for 7% off the tour of your choice.

5.  Stay in & veg out

Sometimes, you just don’t want to move during a designated holiday. Put on a few family DVDs, cook a big meal or play a game with the kids (if they don’t like board games, they might get a kick out of watching mom or dad attempt to play X-Box). Just have fun and cherish the time you spend together, regardless of where you are.

What are your plans for this upcoming Family Day?

8 Reasons Why Canadians Should Jump on the Couponing Bandwagon

[ 1 ] February 15, 2012

Couponing in Canada is a growing hobby, but if you’ve never tried it before, chances are you’re a little hesitant. There’s no reason to be!

To quell your concerns, we’ve listed 8 fabulous reasons why you should start couponing in our home and native land.

If you’re looking for tips on how to get started, read our How to Coupon In Canada post next.

1. New deals pop up all the time

One of the biggest myths about couponing in Canada is that there simply aren’t enough deals. Not true! Do a quick Google search and you’ll find many Canadian-based sites and blogs updated daily with awesome bargains. What about free stuff, you ask? Just check out our own Freebies section.

2. You can help the shape the future of couponing

Compared to the United States, our country’s couponing community is relatively new. Send suggestions to brands and coupon companies about what deals you’d like to see. Trust us, they take the consumer’s opinion very seriously.

3. Canadians are generous, eh?

The old stereotype is right: Canadians are unfailingly polite. Online, you’ll find forums full of fellow couponers willing to share deals and update others about the hottest coupons of the week. You can also sign up to have coupons mailed directly to you.

4. No extremists allowed

Being unable to stack coupons in Canada might seem like a bad thing, especially if you’ve noticed how many bottles of shampoo Americans can haul from the grocery store. But can you imagine if everybody was an extreme couponer? There would never be anything left for consumers to buy – not to mention many U.S. grocery stores are now restricting their coupon policies as a result of TLC’s show.

5. Variety is the spice of life (and your wallet)

There are so many different ways to save, it might make your head spin. Coupons come in all forms including flyers, coupon books, online coupon aggregates and daily deal blogs. Canada is one of the most diverse countries in the world, after all.

6. Extra money = splurging on that one hot item

We don’t mean splurging on any expensive new toy that comes your way. If you’ve had your eye on a special little something you wouldn’t normally buy (but deeply desire), couponing will help you get that much closer. We all deserve to treat ourselves every once and a while!

7. You’ll become savvier, smarter & more organized

It might seem like coupons were made strictly for Type A personalities, but even the laziest of us can learn something from it. Once you get the hang of sorting your coupons and flyers – not to mention the daily equations to find out how much you save – the gears of your brain will start to move. Couponing has been known to make people think of shopping in a new, exciting light.

8. The savings, duh!

Ignoring all the politics, the main and most obvious reason why you should start couponing is to take advantage of the deals you don’t see advertised in stores. Don’t let your preconceptions about Canadian coupons fool you – there’s a whole world of deals outside of flyers!

Why do you want to start couponing and what type of savings are you looking for? Leave us a comment below!
